The lymphatic system is an extension of the vascular system which siphons debris and waste from the connective tissue of the body. The massage serves to stimulate the suction of the system to pick up more fluid.
The massage (Lymphen) is extremely light, and works in the pattern of the lymphatic watersheds. The routine may be done with underwear on, and is draped for modesty.
A session is a minimum of one hour, and usually ninety minutes. This is because we must treat the whole system to get the system to draw before treating a specific area. Especially with pregnancy, the system is likely to be overwhelmed with fluid! We know that COVID affects the vessels of the body - especially the arteries and veins have failed when there are co-morbidities. This is why people have had issues with toes - which are furthest from the core. And why long COVID has taken residence in lungs, and spontaneous cancers are occurring in places with a lot of blood flow - the vessels are vulnerable, and lymph work helps them.

Lymph does have specific vessels, and specific pathways. I know how to remodel the pathways to help optimize healing. Lymphatic massage work should be done as soon as possible after surgery. Lymphatic massage should be done before surgery to clear the area, so cells can find each other directly afterwards, and repair the tissue sooner.
