Let's get you back to feeling like yourself again, so you can do everything you want to do with your life. Let us teach you how to manage your body.
The most amazing thing about people with too much swelling on a daily basis is that they are often the most athletic of all- the most fit internally. Your endurance is amazing.
Yes, this clinic is home to an expert in Manual Lymphatic Massage and Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy. We have been working the solution since 1999 in Germany at the Foeldi Klinik. Body Audit USA is your expert in the region for manual lymphatic drainage and custom compression wrapping with German two way stretch bandages
Your recovery will go faster, and the repair will be more complete. Lymph massage can prevent scar tissue from accumulating, and will help the vessels get reconnected. Lymphatic massage work should be done as soon as possible after surgery. Lymphatic massage should be done before surgery to clear the area, so cells can find each other directly afterwards, and repair the tissue sooner.
The lymphatic system is an extension of the vascular system which siphons away swelling, debris, and waste in your body. The massage stimulates the system to pick up more fluid.
It never hurts - the paradox of lymph massage is that the most gentle work produces the most profound results. We work directly on the nodes and the skin gently.
A session is a minimum of one hour, and usually ninety minutes. This is because we must treat the whole system. For most rapid decongestion, the massage is done twice a day with custom wraps.
This style of massage bolsters the immune system, by lightening the load on the lymphatics. Researchers have found that clearing the lymph fluid can speed recovery and remove chemotherapy more rapidly. Patients will feel more like themselves, with higher energy levels, less systemic swelling, and better mood.
Yes. Lymph work helps the vessels regenerate vessels hurt by Long COVID. Researchers have swelling in the walls of the vessels of Long COVID patients- especially the arteries and veins - which hardens them. This is why people have had issues with toes, random tumors, and strokes - the vessels are vulnerable.
What you need to start with is compression which is gentle, and a good understanding of the consevative treatments available to you. We can recommend support garments, lifestyle changes, and we can show you how to custom compression wrap so you can manage swelling when you travel or on bad days.
Lipedema treatment massage is a paradox - it is extremely light at times to sweep fluid and extremely deep at other times to break fibrosis. We may have to break orthopedic entrapment to get the lymphatic system to flow freely.
Typically, we have you come in for a couple of sessions prior to your surgery to get a good baseline for the therapist. After surgery, you should come for massage at least once a day as soon as you can get to the studio. This pattern should go for the first week at a minimum. Depending on your progress, and what compression we choose, you may need a couple more weeks of intensive frequency.
If you do not get massage while still removing the anesthesia from your body, your body will build pathways for new lymph flow around the swelling, rather than in the way you want to have the flow afterwards. The benefit is that you get vessels where you want them, and the vessels are not blocked by debris left behind after surgery.
Your body had to heal a very deep incision. Manual Lymphatic massage can drag away the inflammation so the scar is less thick. MLD also helps to remodel the tissue so the skin cells can find each other and match up with a lesser scar.
Your body's genetics dictate how your scars form. Your connective tissue uses "anatomical glue" - also known as scar tissue. If your collegen is too strechy, or if the system is not circulating well, there can be too much scaring tissue. And if the scar tissue remains unchallenged, it accumulates and increases over time.
Manual lymphatic drainage works best when someone else does it because the nervous system will not allocate energy to the lymphatic system when your system is keyed up. If you are vigilant, you will not drop into the parasympathetic. We need you to be completely surrendered to the massage for the best flow. :)
Dry brushing works to sweep away local fluid. The microcurrent brushes also work to sweep, but neither of these beats the skilled fingertips of a massage therapist who understands the system and can feel the flow. It is very common for the body to have re-routed itself due to some stress - and this creates alternative pathways. The most simple brushing will not get these areas to siphon well.
